David Ezziddine Biography

United States, born 1972

I paint figurative/surrealist works which are filled with symbolism and historical references, both obvious and obscure. I mix the ordinary with the unusual to create a mythology that weaves between paintings; connecting them in a non-linear story whose ending is uncharted.
I am originally from California, but I grew up in Texas. I have lived in a number of other places, including The Netherlands, Colorado, California and New Mexico. I am currently living in the Portland, Oregon area. While each of these places has influenced my work in various ways, I believe the vast, high desert of New Mexico has had the most profound impact. I return to the desert often and it continues to be a source of inspiration.
