Erik Sunderman is a talented self-taught artist whose passion for creativity has spanned a lifetime. Born with a pencil in hand, Erik began his artistic journey at an early age, showcasing his natural talent for drawing family portraits, comics, and scenes inspired by his favorite movies. Encouraged by his family to pursue his artistic inclinations, he dedicated himself to honing his skills throughout his formative years.

In the 8th grade, Erik attended Classen School of Advanced Studies during its inaugural year. This experience provided him with a foundation in the arts and helped shape his creative vision. However, after graduating, he chose to break away from traditional academic paths. Following just a month of college, Erik opted for a more unconventional route—hitchhiking across the country while continually creating art. This nomadic period not only enriched his experiences but also influenced his artistic style.

In his twenties, Erik participated in several art shows, showcasing his evolving body of work and gaining recognition within the art community. It was during this time that he met Liz Mercer, a fellow artist who shared his passion for creativity. Their love for art brought them together, and the couple soon decided to embark on a new adventure together.

The duo moved to New York City, where they faced the hustle and bustle of urban life. However, the chaotic environment wasn't a perfect fit, and Erik and Liz ultimately decided to return to their roots in Oklahoma City. Here, they worked and apprenticed with a local mural company, where Erik expanded his artistic repertoire by learning the techniques of faux finishing, mural painting, sign crafting, and landscape artistry.

Empowered by their experiences, Erik and Liz took a leap of faith and established their own art business, allowing them to pursue their shared dream of creating impactful art. In addition to running their business, Erik found a role at JRB Art at the Elms, a renowned art gallery. In this position, he is involved in art installations and deliveries, gaining invaluable insights into the world of art curation directly from the gallery's owner.

Today, Erik Sunderman continues to thrive as an artist, drawing inspiration from his journeys, collaborations, and the vibrant community around him. His dedication to his craft and his commitment to artistic expression make him a significant figure in the contemporary art scene.
