Filippo Mattarozzi Biography

Italy, born 1978

I am a self-taught drawer. I revise ancient engravings in ink. Very often my works are mistaken for actual prints. I have been working on this topic for a few years.

Engraving fascinates me a lot and I try to reproduce it through my stroke.

I collaborate with collectors and art galleries. I work on commission.

The first prize goes to Filippo Mattarozzi, who displayed the second oriental head by Rembrandt, for the uniqueness of the subject and for the sublime and rare technique which made the fake not false and made it appear real.

His refined and technically skillful tracing of the mark in pencil and ink, traced with cleanliness on cardboard, often leads to confusing his works with actual prints.
