Gazelle Pezeshkmehr Biography

Norway, born 1979

The award winning visual artist, Gazelle Pezeshkmehr, has been honing her skills as a photographer and digital artist since 2018. Originally trained in a more conceptual matter by The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague, and Einar Granum College of Fine Arts, Oslo. Emerging out of a prolonged period of illness, the camera turned out to be the tool she needed to find back to her expression and art.

Gazelle’s evolution into conceptual and staged photography allowed her to submit creations of alternative worlds that embodies the complex domain of the human psyche, where the borders between dreams and reality are often blurred and entwined. Her work inquires the complexities of identity, trauma, and spirituality. By careful and calculated utilization of images, metaphors and symbols she creates a dreamy scenario soaked in surreal realism, where she explores the haunted realms of the human mind and mental fitness.

Gazelle has exhibited her works numerous times, both in solo and group exhibitions internationally, and she has been purchased by one of Norway’s biggest art collectors, Mr. Christian Ringnes. She is the official visual artist for the Fluktfestivalen, which is an annual festival about the global refugee crisis.
