M.E. Baird Biography

M.E. Baird is a remarkable and somewhat mysterious talent. Not only is M.E. Baird a critically acclaimed singer, songwriter, and musician, but he is also a prize-winning artist whose artwork is as unique and captivating as his music.  From his deep lamenting voice and beguiling songs to his intricate thought-provoking artwork, M.E. Baird is an artist in every sense.  Originally from Melbourne, Australia, M.E. Baird has lived in many places since, each place a unique chapter in life and art.  He has been based on Bundjalung Country, New South Wales for the last decade, where he continues pursuing his great love of making music and art.

M.E. Baird originally studied fine arts at Frankston Technical College in the mid-1980s. He later studied Landscape Architecture at RMIT in the early 1990s where he commenced his academic career. Parallel to his music and art practice he has held sessional lecturing roles at various art schools and universities in Victoria and New South Wales, as well as art direction and design for film, television and digital content.  As a designer and artist, he has won several industry awards, both in practice and as an academic.  In 2023 he was awarded 1st place in the Maritime Art Prize,  Melbourne.
