Morten Hansen Biography

Norway, born 1994

Morten Hansen is a young aspiring artist from Norway who specializes in the dark and disturbing. Hansen’s motivation and force as an artist have always been to question and to explore our touch of darkness within us, in the world around us, and where this is taking us. The comfortable set against the uncomfortable always underlies his motives, which is why he always is working his way out from black painted backgrounds, a technique he began to cultivate during his art education in Norway. In his own words, this forces him to seek out the light in the dark and therefore makes it easier for him to reproduce how he personally sees the world around him.

2020 – todays date: «Tenk Ut»

A collaborative project with the Norwegian Correctional Service with a focus on prevention among inmates in Norwegian prisons, where my illustrations are intended to create reflection and openness in male and female inmates. A total of 60 different illustrations presented in public exhibitions autumn 2022 – todays date before they are exhibited permanently and printed as “therapy cards” that will be used in voluntary therapy sessions around Norwegian prisons and institutions.
