United Kingdom, born 1990
Our relationship with the monstrous is a matter of identity, since every monster is arguably an allegory for a person. My work combines painting, storytelling and sculpture to depict a dreamscape of whimsical body horror and colourful grotesquerie, often using mixed media to create palpable textures. I strive to balance tender pathos with ominous deformity, inviting uneasy familiarity with my subjects. In my work, everyone is a monster, therefore nobody is a monster, and every gut reaction begs a question mark.
Paintings and installations hung in Ronda, Manchester and London, 3 years of zines (Spleen Magazine), 2 short films (Butter won’t Melt, the Little Spermaid), and several music videos (Pretty Addicted, Wrapped in Plastic). Interactive arts degree from MMU
