Rianne van Putten Biography

Netherlands, born 1982

I am a self-taught artist, working for over twenty-five years with oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pencil. My work moves between realism and imagination – often figurative, sometimes symbolic, always with a focus on light, atmosphere, and emotion.
I draw inspiration from human vulnerability, the silence of a space, a memory, a dreamlike vision. My work tell stories without words, raise questions without offering clear answers. I’m fascinated by contrast: light and shadow, strength and fragility, life and decay.
I work from my studio in Bathmen in the Netherlands surrounded by nature – a peaceful environment that allows space for reflection and intuitive creation. Each piece evolves layer by layer, until it begins to breathe. As an artist, I don’t strive for perfection – I seek authenticity. I want my work to touch something in the viewer – a memory, a feeling, a thought that lingers in the quiet.
