I wanted to start with a poem, but now to introduce myself. I am a self taught artist residing in San Diego, California. I grew up in Tacoma, Washington. Over the years I have taught myself (seed) bead embroidery (influenced by native tribes), thread embroidery, crochet, acrylic and mixed media painting. I also spend time writing poetry. I have made bead embroidered jean jackets with hand painted details, bead embroidered jewelry, crochet clothing and some clay sculpture. I have mostly focused on acrylic painting due to the quick nature and self fulfillment of expression with this medium. I work mainly on mixed media paper and stretched cotton canvas.

My current work focuses on spirituality, religion as well as life path and choices/decisions.

Some wonderful artist work I enjoy: Gustav Dore, Stephen Gammell, Zdzislaw Beksiński and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

While I know this space is used to impress you with all of my accomplishments and accolades. For now I will be using it to be completely real and honest. I did not go to school for art and I haven’t been published in magazines. What I have been able to do is live a life of serving other needs, wants, and emotions. I have been a mother and a caretaker for over 20 years. Through that I have learned so many things about myself. Two of my children who have special needs have taught me to fight and ultimately fight for myself. I recently had to make the devastating decision to put my eldest (22yrs) in a home to continue taking care of his many needs. I now know that I will and can fight for myself passions and dreams. Art has saved my life.

Don’t count me out.
