France, born 1982
Straight out of a tropical dream and a curiosity cabinet at the same time, the animals that Sailev paints are in the grip of torment, haste or ecstasy. With an attraction for the bizarre and myths, Sailev has developed an aesthetic that combines figurative symbolism and wildlife surrealism. Made of scales, feathers, fur and bones, his paintings reveal glimpses of nature's soul confronted to the inevitable destruction. They glorify the wealth of nature as much as they remind us of the peril it faces.
Through his seven years of living in Asia amidst its fauna and flora, Sailev has exhibited his artworks in Asia and North America. He then settled in Normandy, back in France. He has received several distinctions including the Artists-for-Conservation Environmental Art Prize during the annual festival in Vancouver, Canada.
