Zicong Huang Biography

China, born 2001

Huang Zicong (born 2001) is a Chinese illustrator and fashion designer who studies and works in the United Kingdom. I graduated from the University of Southampton (BA) and Nottingham Trent University (MA), and my work includes visual and humorous imagery of strange creatures, such as twisted extraterrestrial beings and blood-like euphoria. Because of my academic background in fashion design, I usually operate as my model in the research process, creating through photography and digital synthesis. In terms of illustration, I like hand drawing. I believe mediums like pencils and watercolors can improve the texture of the painting. And I adore incorporating 3D printing, bead embroidery, and clay into my illustration work. In terms of clothes, I hold a first-class degree in fashion design from the University of Southampton. Celebrities, including Akini Jing and Liu Yu, have worn my outfit. The outfit I designed has appeared on various magazines' covers and interior pages, including MALVIE, 17:23, Top Posters, and Vogour.
"I am captivated by the delicate balance between beauty and grotesque, the familiar and the alien. An emphasis on mysticism and the otherworldly world distinguishes my work. I strive to create a dialogue between the viewer and the mysterious, encouraging them to question and explore the boundaries of their perception."
