The painting “Grotto” is a sealed moment of one of these worlds, frozen on the borders of consciousness. This real landscape, created off the coast of the Arctic Ocean (Teriberka village, Russia), is my vision of this place in an alternative existence that takes place simultaneously with us. In this parallel world, life flows according to its own laws, absolutely incredible.
Spherical objects descend from the heavens, hidden by eternal twilight, into the Grotto. They can be attributes of another civilization or living beings. The gigantic sphere is like an ancient monument, with tentacles crawling out — alien, writhing, groping the space around. They exist, they do not know our ideas about life and death, about evolution and the limits of what is possible. Has it always been here, or did it come from outside, through time and reality?
The painting hints at the presence of something incomprehensible, beyond human control, something that exists simultaneously with us, it generates feelings of anxiety, fascination and awe of the unknown.
