In Romanian and Albanian mythology, a striga is a kind of witch-vampire that slips into children’s rooms and absorbs their life force.
It is believed that strigoi are not converted by the bite of another vampire, but rather are the seventh male child of a witch, or of a woman who has committed adultery.
At first glance they are no different from humans.
