Artwork description

Eros Defeats Depression draws on mythology to explore a contemporary inner struggle. Eros appears not as a playful god of desire, but as a winged, almost angelic figure—a mediator between worlds, suspended between the divine and the human. His presence recalls ancient myths in which love is a disruptive force, capable of challenging fate, death, and despair.

Below, depression takes the form of a hybrid creature: part Fenrir, the apocalyptic wolf of Norse mythology, part blue dog—intimate, domestic, and haunting. This fusion connects cosmic destruction with everyday psychological suffering. The human figure remains exposed, caught between threat and rescue.

The surrounding statues evoke frozen witnesses, echoing classical sculpture and representing a society turned to stone—distant, disengaged. In the background, the city and its central church stand as ambiguous symbols of guidance and authority.
