Artwork description
A human couple are powerful birds of prey, locked in a cage—a prison-like world. Their suffering is compounded by the birds injuring and devouring each other, feuding and going mad in the captivity of earthly existence. The female bird feeds on the blood of the male bird, who patiently and nobly allows himself to be eaten, sacrificing himself to sustain the life of his weaker companion. Her gaze reflects the torment of a creature desperately yearning for freedom.
