The painting is part of the triptych “Life of Livorno”. A European woman in the guise of a princess meets an African in a garden – a park called Fortezza Vecchia. Like other parks in Europe, this place became a favorite among Africans, drug dealers, despite the fact that locals considered it safe for walks in the fresh air. A black guy with his characteristic spontaneity and professional friendliness offers his goods for testing, but the girl, in an expensive historical dress, is wary and coldly rejects the offer. It seems that she is surrounded, because in the background you can see the figure of another African, the ancient park is occupied by strangers, a hot summer day, a thunderstorm is approaching. Her diadem is depicted in the form of an owl, which is a symbol of Western occultism and wisdom, but also blindness, because the owl is helpless, not seeing the obvious.
