Man on a Poppy Field with Two Women by Karina Kulyk (Original Painting)

This painting was inspired by the way of life of Afghan farmers. The image does not necessarily correspond to the real state of affairs in the world and in that country in particular, since it encompasses not just certain well-known facts, but also deep experiences, associations and reflections on the path of man and the interweaving of many destinies under the influence of tribal traditions, world politics and religion, their interaction and contradictions. Nobility, courage, and the beauty of a human being coexist in one soul with baseness, greed, doom and cruelty. Beautiful and majestic nature hides poisons within itself, and its expanses, promising freedom, turn out to be plantations where slaves curse their lives, not forgetting to reproduce. Suddenly, the majestic panorama of thoughts is compressed into something simple – the hallucinations of some urban drug addict, haunted by demonic ghosts in the form of women who pursue him, embodying his conscience.
