Artwork description

Lamia is a monster from the desert in the form of a half-snake woman, according to legend, luring travelers into a trap with a melodious whistle. In the painting, Lamia is depicted with two heads, descending from a cliff, closing the entrance to the cave – her home. The traveler himself rose to the heights, seeking a meeting with wisdom. Lamia in the form of a sphinx, which asks riddles. The female monster, the color of the earth where she lives, stretched out her very long, tenacious hands to tear the man apart. This is a saint who tames an eternal creature with fiery wings, living far from people, high in the mountains. This can be interpreted as the meeting of mortals with immortality or the meeting of Paganism and Christianity (monotheism). At the relationship level, a man, with his righteousness and sincere love, pacifies an intellectual woman with bipolar disorder who is hiding from society.
