I saw a young dancer, Emmerson Mae, while waiting to board a plane. She was recording a reel and looked so playful. After asking permission from her and her guardians, I was able to take photos that acted as a reference point. Seeing her dance reminded me of when I was a kid and felt the happiest – meeting #22, a flamingo at the San Diego Zoo in the 2000s. This moment reminded me of the Alan Watts lecture, that life is not a journey, but rather a musical thing that is playful, and you should move to it while the music is being played. To me, this means that no matter how hard life gets, there is always something playful about it. Thus, I combined vibrant colors and the playful moment between present and memory, in an alien-like, barren landscape.
