Artwork description
The thoughts of a free thinking man – these are not statements, rather, you are being asked to think for yourself.
• Are the opulent, faceless few, constantly manipulating the course of history by electing a president with dictator values, attacking Lady Liberty and “justice for all”?
• Are these affluent individuals, like Trump, who exploit the weak for individual gratification, recognition and gain, guilty of choosing control over nurturing humanity?
• Can generations with archaic, ideals be changed by time, science, or the knowledge gained by reading more than just one book?
• Is segregation blindly mistaken for heritage? Having zero control over where you are birthed, you are named, told what to believe, and the race you belong to. Also, along with creed, colour and financial status. Are these the values humans should hold above all else?
• A religious and political fanatic, like Phoenix Ikner, (mass shooter) a deputy sheriffs’ son, can be regarded as a terrorist, or a patriot, simply by the influence of where you grew up? Does this seem like madness, influenced by narrow minded people?
• Are the assassinated presidents, who spoke of freedom and equality without war, a reminder to all that this is not possible as there is no profit on peace?
• Is slavery modernised, hiding in plain sight, knowing only the colour green?
• Will we one day be ashamed that money is more important than life?
Key points that you will find within this painting
• The 4 Presidents in the background, who all wanted equality for humanity, were assassinated for their beliefs.
• The mutilated female on the bed represents Lady Liberty. The inscription at the famous landmark reads –
‘Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!'”
It’s promise of hope, freedom and opportunity for those seeking a new life. Lady Liberty now lies lobotomised and mutilated to fit Trumps standards of race and religious segregation. The portion taken out representing the freedom to be yourself.
