Artwork description

HOMUNCULUS (2021-2022)

Smaller and meaner than a child with a mother,
He was born in horse’s womb.
Fed with human blood, he searches more.
Big hands help to catch the meat
Covered by maggots to keep the heat…

This creature sculpture is designed and made by me, with the monster clay, molded with silicone and cast with polyurethane resin. Painted with acrylic.
His name is Homunculus.
This piece was designed by the artist and crafted by hand using traditional techniques. It was sculpted with Monsterclay wax, molded in silicone, and cast in polyurethane resin. The coloring was done solely by hand and brush with acrylic paint and mixed techniques, and the hair was individually crafted by hand. A total of three pieces were created simultaneously, taking a year to complete. The design draws inspiration from various deformations, discomforting references, and medical anomalies. The artist reinterprets the 19th-century myth of the “homunculus.”
Short story written by the artist:
”Smaller and meaner than a child with a mother,
He was born in horse’s womb.
Fed with human blood, he searches more.
Big hands help to catch the meat
Covered by maggots to keep the heat…”
The presentation video, including music, filming, and narration, was created and performed by the artist: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc04vG-KV23/
