In this painting, I have reimagined my muse Leina as a Nereid, a sea nymph who confronts the viewer with a gaze of absolute defiance and pride in her own nudity.
My intention was to explore the frustration of the observer. I have placed Leina where her human form begins to merge into the scales of her aquatic tail. This transition is designed to tease the eye: just as you begin to admire the curves of her buttocks, they transform into a different organism, a hybrid body that remains eternally out of reach.
She is a beauty that you can contemplate, but never truly possess due to her mythological nature. Through the vibrant blues of the ocean and the warm tones of her skin, I want to evoke that specific longing for a pleasure that is visible yet fundamentally impossible. She knows her power, and she knows your frustration.
