The title is a pun on the fact that there is not really a face in the scultpure – even if the piece of bone can make a caricatural profile in some points of view – but there are rusted nails hammered in the shape of a cross with a sort of crown on top, and the word “face” sounds a lot like “faith”. This is meant to highliht the fact that nowadays, even if many people just live their faith for themselves, many use it as a tool or lever to try and push reactionnary agenda into politics, using arguments that are contradictory to their faith’s teachings.
