“Maid-en Bath”
Dedicated to one of the greatest portrait painters, Frans Hals.
Group of portraits where I was trying to depict “lost in time” feel and make faces and bodies androgynous.
Oil on canvas, 61 x 51 x 4 cm on hardwood frame stretcher. Partially inspired by Visconti’s film Death in Venice, and also by Mahler’s Symphony No5 ( used in the film ).
Painted in 2018 and signed on the top left corner.
Thin layer of Krylon UV Archival ( Gallery series ) satin varnish has been applied. It can be varnished further would more shiny look be required.
Painted on 12 oz , triple primed canvas . Schmincke Norma oil paints.
Now it is completely dry and I will apply thin layer of varnish to protect it further.
I use Krylon UV Archival satin varnish. It is top quality non yellowing varnish to protect against fading, dirt, moisture and discoloration. Comes with “D” rings and a wire, ready to be hung.
