I depicted a series of spiritual maps to avoid difficulties in this project.
Background:
We all want to avoid something that makes us anxious, whether it’s dogs or public speaking. Although this may provide temporary relief, ignoring certain circumstances may make them more difficult to confront and increase our anxiety. On the contrary, by gradually exposing ourselves to fear-inducing situations, we can begin to overcome them and feel more in control. The most straightforward way to deal with this phobia is to expose oneself to these activities rather than avoid them progressively. Further to that, when we are scared, take a few moments to consider how our bodies feel and how they will react.
Concept:
In this series of illustrations, I seek to portray people’s powerlessness and acceptance of hardships and concerns, as well as their eagerness to retreat and be caught back into their “shells”
Story:
I created a surreal mental universe for this project. People who flee danger and hide in their shells are repeatedly attracted to run away and return to their shells. Finally, these individuals leave their comfort zone and confront their issues and worries head-on. This set of spiritual maps’ is made out of various materials, including watercolor, colored pencils, beads, resin, and 3D printing.
