I am an artist. I work primarily in oils and drawings, as well as digital painting and illustration. What about my practice? My art is my life and my breath; I am a highly detailed person, highly empathetic, very viscerally charged by my surroundings. My art is the expression in which I put to a physical shape the world I see, in my eyes. I express a somatic sense, a temporal feeling of exasperation and visual and cognitive distortion. Many of my works mirror memories of abuse, of social dissonance, of a terror of being. I am fascinated with the human body, I am fascinated by the human body and mind as flesh with neurons teaming at the ends, vibrating and reanimating the flesh as though a ghost trapped in the machine. Painting is a sort of chemistry, one in which I intend to learn to its mastery. Color is beautiful, a marvelous thing to have each connective tissue, each cell form the backs of our retina project light in such a way where we not only exist within ourselves, yet a chaotic, sometimes overstretched and horrific world. I hope to impress a part of this to viewers—the me who is here, the one who is a lost child trapped somewhere in the past, stored and remembered somewhere inside me, in this autonomic system. Where each impression of paint is a meditation between the here and before, between worlds, of the inner and outer self, that anyone may find themselves in the gate I open in producing a painting. To touch, to perceive, you then perceive me in my fullest. I feel that is what art can do, for an artist, you become a mode of self actualization, in this purer self.
