The painting transports the viewer to a bleak, almost endless cosmic landscape where light and darkness merge in a metaphor for the cycle of life and transformation. Against the background of dense dark blue space, the central element of the composition is a massive cast-iron meat grinder filled with crude industrial power. It seems to float in a vacuum, fulfilling its merciless function.
The image of the tree symbolizes something outmoded, obsolete or unnecessary. The act of grinding is painful and cruel, but in its aggression there is a paradox hidden – weightless spheres emerge from the meat grinder, symbolizing new beginnings, ideas or possibilities that are born out of pain and upheaval.
